At Nurture, we are passionate about helping mothers and their families grow. We have faced challenges to reproductive mental health in our own lives and we have seen a sharp increase in the need for care that is focused on the conditions affecting family planning and childbirth. We want to help.
Why has there been an increase in the need for reproductive and maternal mental healthcare? Theories include an increase in the demands women face in their personal and professional lives, a deterioration in mental health generally that is perhaps more apparent when facing challenges in growing a family, and increases in the awareness and the tools available to diagnose and treat these conditions. We suspect it may be a combination of factors, but what is most important is that we do something.
Nurture’s therapists have experience dealing with many perinatal health concerns, including post-partum depression and anxiety, infertility, difficult pregnancy, miscarriage and pregnancy loss. We have developed relationships with many local providers of OBGYN, family and pediatric care and are a trusted source of referrals.
The United States Government, through the US Preventive Services Task Force(USPSTF), has recently recommended that all expectant mothers undergo screening for maternal mental health. We've compiled some additional resources here that might help you address your concerns about reproductive health.
We are all susceptible to these conditions. Experience has taught us that the worst thing we can do is ignore our problems or assume we can go it alone. If you or someone you know is suffering, it's important to ask for help.
Please call or email for a consultation or appointment.
